1. Who we are
Gate Digital is the trading name of Liam Gate Digital Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 15304688). Our registered address is HUB 2, Greenbank, Stranton, Hartlepool, TS24 7QS.
For the purposes of data protection law, Liam Gate Digital Limited is the "data controller" for the personal data described in this policy. If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact Liam Gate at liam@gatedigital.co.uk.
2. What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal data we collect through gatedigital.co.uk, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over it. It applies to visitors to this website and to people who get in touch with us through it.
3. What data we collect
Contact form and direct enquiries
When you use the contact form on this site, message us on WhatsApp, email us, or book a call through our calendar link, we collect the information you choose to give us. This typically includes your name, email address, phone number, business name and the details of your enquiry.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies to run the site properly and, where you consent, to understand how visitors use it. Our cookie banner lets you choose which categories of cookies you're happy with, and you can change your mind at any time.
Automatically collected data
Like most websites, our server and any analytics tools we use may automatically log some technical information, such as your IP address, browser type, device type and the pages you visit. Where this relies on cookies that require consent, it only happens if you've agreed to it.
4. How we use your data
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the services you've asked about
- To manage our relationship with you if you become a client
- To understand how people use our website, so we can improve it, only with your consent via analytics cookies
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations
5. Our legal basis for using your data
Under UK GDPR, we rely on the following legal bases:
- Consent, for analytics and marketing cookies, and any marketing communications you've opted into
- Legitimate interests, for responding to enquiries and running the core parts of the website that don't require consent
- Contract, where we're taking steps to enter into or perform a contract with you as a client
- Legal obligation, where we need to keep records for tax or accounting purposes
6. Who we share your data with
We don't sell your data. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us run the site and our business, such as our web hosting provider and our booking, form and email tools
- Google, where you consent to analytics cookies (Google Analytics, run through Google Tag Manager) or where you interact with an embedded Google service such as our booking calendar. Google may process this data outside the UK; where it does, it relies on its own approved safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses
- Regulatory or legal bodies, if we're required to by law
Analytics cookies only run once you've given consent through our cookie banner. See our Cookie Policy for the full, current list of cookies used on this site.
7. Embedded and third-party content
- Google Fonts: we load fonts from Google's servers, which means Google receives your IP address when a page loads
- Google Calendar: our "Book a meeting" link takes you to Google's own booking page, which is covered by Google's privacy policy, not ours
- WhatsApp: our WhatsApp links open the WhatsApp app or website, which is covered by WhatsApp's own privacy policy
8. How long we keep your data
We keep enquiry and contact data for as long as we need it to deal with your enquiry or maintain our client relationship with you, and for a reasonable period after that in case you get back in touch or we need it for accounting purposes. We don't keep it for longer than we need to.
9. Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal data we hold about you and get a copy of it
- Ask us to correct any data that's inaccurate or incomplete
- Ask us to delete your data, where there's no good reason for us to keep it
- Ask us to restrict how we use your data
- Object to us using your data for certain purposes
- Ask us to move your data to another organisation, in certain circumstances
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we're relying on consent, for example by changing your cookie preferences
To exercise any of these rights, email liam@gatedigital.co.uk. We'll respond within one month.
If you're not happy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
10. Children
This website isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we introduce new tools or services on the site. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If we make significant changes, we'll make that clear on the site.
