How I actually work

No sales process, no account handovers, no templated playbook copied from a different business in a different town. Here's exactly what happens from the first conversation onward.

The short version

A lot of agency websites describe a process in vague terms because the actual process varies wildly depending on which account manager you get. That's not a risk here.

There's one person doing the work, so how things run is the same regardless of which service you're asking about, Google Ads, SEO, or the Marketing Partner option covering both.

It starts with a conversation, not a pitch. No onboarding deck, no sales process designed to get a signature before you've understood what you're buying. What's going on in your business and your current marketing comes first, before anything gets said about what should change. If there's an existing account or website already in place, that gets audited properly before anything else happens, see the results page for what that's uncovered in real accounts before.

From there it's benchmarks, a live report you can check whenever you want, and regular check-ins, weekly or fortnightly depending on what suits you, not a strategy document written in January and reviewed in December. If you want the specifics for a particular service, Google Ads and SEO both cover what that looks like day to day, and Marketing Partner covers what it looks like when one person runs both.

None of this changes depending on how big or small your business is. A sole trader gets the same audit-first approach and the same plain-English reporting as a business with real departments behind it, just scaled to what makes sense for the size of the account. What does change is the pace, some businesses want a light-touch monthly check-in once things are running well, others want the weekly back-and-forth throughout, that gets agreed early on and revisited whenever it needs to.

Reporting works the same way across every service: a live report you can check whenever you want, not a PDF that lands once a month with numbers already three weeks old. If something's moving in the wrong direction, that gets flagged before you have to ask why, not buried until the next scheduled call. And communication happens however suits you, phone, email, WhatsApp, in person if you're local, no ticket system, no junior filtering what reaches the person actually running your account.

This applies whether you're starting from nothing or handing over an account someone else already built. A brand new account gets built from the ground up around what converts. An existing one gets audited first, kept where it's working, rebuilt where it isn't, you don't lose your history or your data either way, it's yours. The FAQ sections on the Google Ads and SEO pages cover the specific questions that come up before someone gets in touch, this page is just the general shape of how the working relationship runs.

Why this is different

A lot of agencies advertising in Hartlepool aren't actually in Hartlepool. They're a national operation running the same template page for every town in the country, with a call centre or account team behind it, not one person who knows your business.

One person, every time

Whoever you speak to about your account is the same person running it. No handover to a junior once the contract's signed, no account manager relaying messages to whoever does the work.

Actually in Hartlepool

Not a landing page pointed at a call centre somewhere else. You can meet me in person, and I'm reachable the same way you'd reach anyone else you do business with locally.

Ten-plus years, not a template

Every account gets looked at on its own terms. Nothing here is copy-pasted from a playbook built for a different business in a different town.

How it works, start to finish

No sales process, no onboarding deck. Here's what happens.

01

We talk it through

No obligation, no pitch. I want to know what's going on before I say anything about what to do about it. This is usually a call or a meeting, whichever's easier for you.

02

I check what you've already got

Your tracking, your analytics, your Facebook and Instagram setup, whoever built your site. I check what's actually firing, not just what's installed, a tracking code sitting on a page means nothing if it's never sending data.

03

I build the plan and the benchmarks

A proper look at where you stand now, and a live report that's yours to check whenever you want, not just when I tell you. You'll know exactly what's being measured and why before anything goes live.

04

We keep talking

Weekly or fortnightly, depending on what makes sense for you. You get my direct number and WhatsApp, not a support ticket queue. If something changes on your end, I want to hear it straight from you.

What the audit covers

Step two above, in detail. This is the list I work through on every account I take on, and it's the same list behind the "what I changed" notes on the results page.

Google Ads

  • Is conversion tracking firing, and is it counting the right things (calls, forms, bookings), not just page views?
  • The search terms report: what the budget was spent on, and which searches should have been blocked.
  • Account structure: campaigns split by service and area, or one blended pot.
  • Match types and the bidding strategy, against how much conversion data the account has to support them.
  • Budget pacing: is the daily budget being spent at all, and where.
  • Landing pages: does each ad send people to a page about the thing it promised.
  • Location, schedule and device settings, and whether they match how your customers behave.

SEO

  • Can Google find, read and index every page that matters, and are any pages indexed that shouldn't be.
  • Site speed and how the site behaves on a phone.
  • Page titles, headings and content against what people search for, page by page.
  • Google Business Profile: complete, categorised properly, and consistent with the name, address and phone number everywhere else online.
  • Thin, duplicated or out-of-date pages that are dragging the rest down.
  • What Search Console says is already getting impressions but not clicks, which is usually the quickest win.

What stays the same, whatever you sign up for

  • No contract. A month's notice if you want to leave, that's it.
  • Plain English reporting. I'll explain the why, not bury you in jargon.
  • You can see the numbers yourself, any time, not just in a monthly call.
  • If something isn't working, I'll say so before you have to ask.
